Ok, I admit it. The world is flat and getting flatter every day. This even includes the Texas Hill Country and a town called Fredericksburg which, is located right in the heart. So, it is quite profound in this isolated city of gentleman farms who raise goats and longhorns that we “Fredericksburgers” owe the flattening of our hills to the web.
When the world wide web (www) was conceived by Tim Berners-Less the idea was and always has been about helping people to communicate and share knowlege.
The web is more a social creation than a technical one. I designed it for a social effect — to help people work together — and not as a technical toy. The ultimate goal of the Web is to support and improve our weblike existence in the world. We clump into families, associations, and companies. We develop trust across the miles and distrust around the corner.
—Tim Berners-Lee, Weaving The Web
Thus, the goal of this blog is to give people all over the world a tiny web window by which any one with an internet connection can, for just a few minutes, visit Fredericksburg Texas and learn what life is like in this idyllic and wonderful place.
