Residential streets in the older areas of Fredericksburg are literally wide enough to turn around a four horse team and large wagon because that is exactly what the old timers who lived here did.
In the 1860's when Fredericksburg was being built it became known as a center for commerce and trading. Fredericksburg was also a marshaling point for wagon trains to begin the long journey to the west coast. Today, three major US and State highways cross on Fredericksburg Texas' Main Street.
